How It Works

Do I have to pay for Gold Choice?
No. When you reserve a midsize vehicle or larger, you can switch to any vehicle in the Gold Choice area at no extra charge. Specialty cars are also available at clearly marked ‘per day’ prices in the Gold Choice Upgrade area. We also have dedicated personnel to assist with your rental or answer questions. If you don’t see the car you want, they can help you find exactly what you are looking for.
What if I am a Hertz President’s Circle® or Five Star® member?
Hertz President’s Circle customers are automatically allocated a one car-class upgrade from what they booked, and Hertz Five Star members will be given an upgrade whenever available. But you can also select any car from the Gold Choice area if you see something you prefer.
What if I am already eligible for an upgrade?
The car you reserved, or better, will always be ready for you. Gold Choice gives you the extra freedom to pick something else if it suits your needs that day.
